Jonathan Louis Dent is a theater educator, playwright, performer, and director whose work explores the intersections of storytelling, identity, community, and social transformation.

An Assistant Professor of Theatre at Hampshire College, he has developed and taught courses in acting, directing, playwriting, devised theater, Black storytelling and performance, and theater for social change. His teaching emphasizes collaborative creation, embodied inquiry, and the capacity of performance to engage complex social questions.

He holds an MFA in Acting from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BA in Africana Studies and Theatre Arts from Brown University. His artistic practice encompasses original plays, autobiographical performance, ensemble-based theater, and community-engaged projects.

Alongside his work in theater and education, Jonathan is a practicing astrologer, numerologist, and initiated priest of Ifá and Ọ̀ṣun. These disciplines inform his broader interest in the relationship between personal inquiry, spiritual development, and collective transformation.
